JEDDAH – The Council of Minsters approved here late Monday a SR1.98 billion joint stock company at the Madinah municipality.
The Headquarters Company for Development will promote developmental programs for remote and under-developed areas in Madinah and other areas which require further development according to urban priority.
Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz, deputy premier and minister of defense, chaired the Cabinet’s session at Al-Salam Palace.
The Cabinet also approved the mental health care system to organize and develop mental health care for psychiatric patients, to protect the rights of psychiatric patients and safeguard their dignity, and to lay down a mechanism for dealing with psychiatric patients and treating them in the mental health facilities.
The Council of Minsters expressed appreciation of the efforts of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to serve Islam and Muslims, making performing Umrah rituals and praying at the Grand Mosque comfortable during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Cabinet thanked the King for his order to open for visitors the ground, first, and mezzanine floors of the expansion and northern, western, southern and eastern courtyards of the King Abdullah Project for the Expansion of the Holy Mosque in Makkah as well as the expanded Mataf (the circumambulation area around the Kaaba) to accommodate an additional 625,000 worshippers during Ramadan.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz Khoja said the Cabinet thanked the King for his directive to provide $500 million in humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people, including the displaced regardless of their religion, sect or ethnicity. It also appreciated the King’s gesture for ordering the payment of SR1.34 billion to the beneficiaries of social security so that they can meet their Ramadan and Eid requirements.
The Cabinet also approved the final account of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization for the fiscal year 1433/1434H.
